Meet Your New Favorite Marketing Consultant (Probably)
Who is Austin?
What Drives Me
My Marketing Philosophy
The Customer Is Always Right (About What They Need)
Here's my fundamental belief: The customer and the market determine success, not our product. We're only as good as our customers think we are.
This means:
If your marketing isn't working, it's not because your product is broken
It's because we're talking to the wrong customer, addressing the wrong pain, or need to try something different
Great marketing comes down to the offer — what value can we bring customers and how can we change their life or job?
Everything else is just tactics in service of that core value proposition
I don't believe in marketing that tricks people into buying. I believe in marketing that helps the right people discover solutions that genuinely make their lives better.
The Data Nerd Side
Everything Is Better With Numbers
I view the world through a data-centric lens. I track everything — from how many diapers I've changed (currently at 2,847 and counting) to specific UTM parameter performance within complex attribution models.
I love building dashboards, creating graphs, and turning complex data into simple stories that drive decisions. If there's a way to measure it, optimize it, and systematize it, I'm probably already thinking about how.
My Technical Arsenal:
Analytics: Google Analytics, GTM, Looker Studio (all certified)
Marketing: HubSpot Marketing Hub Expert, Google Ads Certified
Design: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom)
Data: PSQL databases, Looker, Gainsight, Pendo, Fullstory
Philosophy: If I don't know it, I'll learn it to add to my quiver
My Secret Weapon
Synesthesia: The Ultimate Marketing Vibe Check
I have a neurological condition called Grapheme-Color Synesthesia, which is basically a superpower. I experience the world through color — every concept, campaign, persona, idea and strategy has a color feeling to me.
If something feels blue, we're good to go. If it feels red, orange, or yellow... it's dead.
This might sound weird, but it's been incredibly valuable in marketing. I won't release campaigns, create launches, or build dashboards if they don't feel right colorwise. It's like having a built-in quality control system that operates below conscious thought.
Translation: I have an unusually strong intuitive sense for what works and what doesn't, backed by years of data to validate those instincts.
When I'm Not Consulting
The Life Behind the Work
Building My Own SaaS: Currently learning JavaScript to build my own software company. It's taking longer than expected (shocking, I know), but the journey is teaching me what my clients go through.
Family Adventures: Hanging out with Brynn and Miles, watching Lord of the Rings (extended edition) for the 47th time, and trying to convince a baby that sleeping through the night is awesome.
Fly Fishing: There's something perfect about the combination of patience, precision, and being completely present in nature. Plus, it's great thinking time for client & personal challenges.
Cocktail Chemistry: I bartended in college and still love the craft. There's surprising overlap between building the perfect old-fashioned and building the perfect marketing campaign — both require the right proportions and careful attention to detail.
Zillow Browsing: Seriously, what do people do for a living to afford these houses? This is both entertainment and market research.
